On Tuesday (December 21) we got a late start again. We met at Noon to head out. The guys (Nick, Vimal & Hemant) wanted to go to an English pub for an English breakfast (read more meat). Mary, Dale and Sonali were headed for a vegetarian restaurant. I decided to go with the second group in order to have some healthy fare. My main reluctance was that I didn't want to be gone for 4 hours.
It turns out I made a really bad choice. The food was good, but the service was exceptionally bad. We didn't get our food for almost 2 hours and couldn't get the waitress' attention. Eventually we changed waitresses. When we tried to pay and leave, the power had gone out so they couldn't swipe the credit card. They didn't bother to tell us this for another 15 minutes until we asked why it wast taking so long. We got back to the hotel about 4 hours later.
In the evening, Nick wanted to go to a part of town that had a restaurant where the band U2 went to eat. I smelled a 4 hour trap, but agreed to head over there for a couple of drinks. The neighborhood is La Boca and has a reputation for being a rough part of town. Fortunately, we couldn't find the U2 place easily so others were ready to mutiny against Nick. We had an absolutely fabulous meal near our hotel at a place my guidebook suggested. The day ended on a wonderfully positive note.
